LEDs
As small as they are, LEDs pack an amazing amount of technology. Depending on your application, you may need to know about things like droop, binning, hot-cold factor, dominant wavelength, flux distribution, and many other topics that play a role when using these devices. We know them all, and have the tools to perform simulations and measurements to gather further insight.
Optical Design
Getting the most out of LEDs is not always a straightforward task. If one wants to take advantage of the high efficiency of LEDs, high quality optical systems with little losses are often required. Using Breault Research’s ASAP, a professional software package for optical design, we develop optical systems, from simple reflectors and collimator lenses to complex projection systems. Prototypes can be built in co-operation with our partners, and our lab facilities allow for accurate measurements and analysis of the results.
System Design
Making the right balance between the various aspects of a system is a tough job: complex trade-offs need to be made. Use a larger heat sink or reduce the LED current? Use a single high-power LED or multiple low-power LEDs? Lower the current to improve efficiency or pay more for more efficient LEDs? We have navigated this field many times, and we will help you make the right choices.
Application Knowledge
Making the transition from conventional light sources to LEDs can be a complex process. We have gone through this process for many applications: traffic signals, signage, LCD backlights, street lighting, spots, projection systems, wall washers, downlights, office lights, and several others. Your application is sure to fit in there somewhere.
